What I have found, after a lot of frustration with prep tools, is that the
best tool, is a good ole utility knife with a sharp blade, and a little
practice.

Been there, done that, save your money.

To get an idea of what all is available in prep tools

It depends on what type of connectors you are using.

Does the Cablematic UT-8000 cable prep tool work on LMR400 cable? It's
billed as working on RG-8/U and 213/U, but no mention of anything else. If
not, is there a similar tool out there for LMR400 that is reasonably priced?
