[TowerTalk] [Force 12 Talk] If you have a F12 linear loaded antenna, you could have some trouble

The small U-bolts on both of my C-4XL antennas rusted and operation became
unstable on 40M. I replaced these with stainless U-bolts and solved the
rust problem. However, the unstable operation persisted. I have replaced
the linear elements with the new Delta 40 elements. The problem is now
permanently fixed.

Howdy --

I've had several occasions in the last several months to fix an
intermittent problem on Force 12 linear loaded antennas. It turns out that
all of them had rusted U-bolts that had deteriorated and caused
intermittent electrical contact. The U-bolts are the real little ones that
connect the linear loaded wires and the shorting wire.

You would be well advised to include checking them during your annual
inspection and probably replacing them. Ultimately they will all fail.
