You have to be careful with names as the retailers aren't.  Real 
"aircraft cable" is SS. SS is not as strong, or more properly I should 
say, most steels are stronger than SS.  Galvanized steel cable comes in 
many grades.  SS is tough and corrosion resistant, but it is soft and 
not as strong as most steels.  Galvanized steel has long life and 
generally is stronger than SS

Be careful with wire rope, particularly that made up locally. Make sure 
it has the proper strength.  I've seen 3/16ths and 1/4 wire ropes with 
strengths varying by a factor of 3 or more.
