[TowerTalk] Antenna Switch Needed

Don't know if the HOFI remote switch is made in Europe any longer but this
switch was sold in the USA by Electronic Switch in the mid 1990's. As I
recall its useful to 500Mhz.

I have used a Heath HD-1481 remote 4 position switch for over 25 years.
Been down twice for maintenance but still going strong. The switch uses
the coax or hardline to control which antenna is in use. No need for a
control cable. The switch was designed by a W0 and the HD-1481 is the
second iteration.

The only problem I have is that if I try to load my 40 meter cushcraft on
160 through the switch I get unstable SWR and loading with over 100 watts.
Running a coax directly to the 40 works OK. I also use the 40 meter beam
on 17 with no problems running 700 watts output from my old Henry 2K.

If you have a Cushcraft 2 el 40 (either version) listen on 160 and you will
be surprised. I recall that N4KG thought this was top loading of a tower
on 160. But it does not work on hy-gain or Telrex.
