Virtually all of my mail is forwarded. I've not had any problems there,
but there are a number of the ISPs that give free e-mail accouts that
are black listed. Spammers get onto these sites and keep changing
addresses until the site gets black listed. I have admin priveleges at
my ISP and all bounced e-mail is forwarded to a quarantine area for that
particular account at the ISP. Still, I've found e-mails sent to me
that were waylaid some where along the line before they ever reached my
ISP. Any more if I don't receive an answer to an e-mail I give it three
more tries before giving up and that includes having the ISP check the
route.

I've found the opposite with the number of false positives reaching
ridiculous numbers although it does cycle.
It runs about 10% here on TT and about 50% on the amps @ contesting .
