Hello Tower folks,
I have a few questions regarding a satellite setup I plan to complete very soon. They are as follows...

I am just about ready to install my home built 144 and 432 yagis on my tower using a U-100 rotor for my elevation rotor. My questions are as follows...

1- What material did anyone use for a cross boom, i.e. wood shaft if so what dia ? and what did you do to it to a) protect it from the elements of weather and b) did you slide a sleeve of metal over the dowel to prevent the clamps from tearing it during use? And I would expect this sleeve to be placed only over areas where clamping will be done.
1-c What length is considered maximum for a sleeve and still show little interaction with my 432 yagi?

2-What is the minimum amount of space you used to install a set of yagis similar to what I have , which is an 11 ele for 432 and a 7 ele for 144 MHZ.

I plan to build a automated satellite tracker for my rotors this winter and for the time being I had planned on mounting both yagis on a common non metallic cross boom at a 15 degree elevation, is this also the best installation in my given situation?

Her is hoping I can get some good information as I hope to get this up before snow flies up here in Ontario, which could be in the next 3 months... Hi Hi !!!

By all means feel free to reply either on the list or direct, although I have always favored on the list so others too can benefit from my learning experience...

73 and hope to hear you on the birds soon...
