Neil,
There is no performance issue to be gained by going to a sleeved type. We
made the change to cut down on problems because some people would have the
two wires in the closed sleeve in every configuration but the correct one.
With the new sleeved version you can't put it on wrong. If you decide to
change it, you must have longer tips too as the changed sleeve will change
resonance. F12 has a kit of parts that facilitates the change to the new
closed sleeve and it has all you need. Remember you'll get no performance
enhancement whatsoever!
