My real life experience has been installing several dozen of the
Orions over the years. Over time, virtually 100% of them loosened up. There are
2 fatal problems: first, the actual contact area of the teeth on the
factory mast clamp adds up to less than 1/2 square inch of surface area. The
second problem is that the fastener contact area is dimpled - over time, the
dimples get pounded down and the nuts loosen.

The Champion Radio Products solves both of these problems. One of them
will never loosen up. If the Orion clamp worked as it should, there
wouldn't be a need for an alternative, improved clamp.
