[TowerTalk] Noisy US Tower HDX572mdpl

I don't have a US Tower, but my Tri-Ex LM470 occasionally will do that. In 
my case, it has always been a windy day, and while the tower doesn't lean 
with wind, the sections do move slightly downwind. If things are a little 
off-balance, and the tower is mostly extended, I will sometimes notice the 
binding action you describe. So, when you have this situation, are the winds 
calm?

If this still happens on a windy day, you probably have sections binding, or 
a pulley which is not rotating. The idea of lubricating the sections kind of 
sounds like band-aid to me...that banging/jerky phenomena is something 
binding with considerable force. I suggest a thorough inspection of all the 
tower sections and hardware, a lube of all the pulleys, and also attention 
to the wire rope cables, as they are clearing having a lot of load presented 
to them.

In the last few months as the tower reaches 65 feet or so it starts to make
a banging noise and seems to be jerking on it way up from 65 to 72 feet.  I
have stopped going above 65 feet until I can get this resolved.

I first thought that since I have a long power run maybe the motor was not
getting enough current.  I ran a temporary power run from a garage near by
but the problem persisted.

US Tower told me that most likely the problem was from the sections wanting
to gall (sp). and to lubricate the section legs with bees wax.  That would
be fairly easy if you had good access to the legs.
It would almost require that the tower be laid over and extended with
additional support for the tower as it is extended.  Plus the removal of all
the antennas.

I am wondering if anyone has experienced this problem and if there is a
product other than bees wax that could be used, negating the need for the
tower to be extended in a horizontal position.

This is my second US Tower and my first one never had this problem.
