[TowerTalk] Tower section assembly question

I think that this is great advice! I used a thin coat of white lithium
grease when I assembled on my Rohn 55 Tower in Aruba and the legs easily fit
together. When I disassembled it10 years later the tower was badly corroded
under multiple coats of paint, however I was still able to get the sections
apart fairly easily.

I recommend using some sort of lubricant on the legs. Anything will
work; e.g. axle grease, bearing grease,Lubriplate, etc. It'll help them
slide
together easily during assembly and disassembly.

If you're contemplating loading the tower, then I'd suggest some sort
of antioxidant. It'll make better electrical joints than anything else.

There's a whole chapter in my UP THE TOWER book on corrosion and lots
of assembly tips including using some grease on the legs.
