[TowerTalk] Aggregate concrete for tower foundation?

My first tower was at my parents home in the late 70's. It was a free
standing Universal aluminum tower and I dig the base hole by hand. They
happened to be putting in a new aggregate patio at the time and the
contractors filled my tower hole with the same material. They troweled it
to look like normal concrete and it worked great. They eventually
replaced the patio, but the concrete base is still in their backyard.

I got a tower foundation planned and dug up. Plan was to use normal
concrete
(3500psi) that I would at the same time use for a broom-finish patio at
the
same time. Now wife things she would like aggregate instead.

Can I use aggregate concrete for a tower foundation? Will it be strong
enough?

Thanks
