I worked as a fairly heavy duty industrial electrician  my summer before college.
We used some commercial stuff, greenish as I recall, which we called monkey shit.
We also used Ivory Snow soap.  Toss a box in a bucket and add water to get the consistency wanted...made the hands feel good.
Some of those pulls were epic, 4  BIG wires for 480V three phase, maybe a couple hundred feet at a time, don’t remember, but the buildings were large.
Pulling was by a hefty winch and steel cable!
