[TowerTalk] 40M Homebrew Vertical - mounting ideas solicited

Thanks Hector and Matt,

I have already checked out all of the various places: DX Engineering, MFJ, etc. They all show aluminum alongside of the driven element in some fashion. My modeling shows that doing this distorts the RF field so I wish to not have ANY metal alongside of the driven element. I do plan on using the DX Engineering Resin Support Blocks where appropriate.

I just looked at KX4O's web site and actually didn't see anything that was directly helpful.

Thanks & 73!

Check out the pictures of the various DX Engineering tilt over plate products. That oughta prime the mental pump!

Take care and good luck on your project!

Follow the DXE concept for vertical raising if you do not want to buy
and yes you can build with metal places, just use the insulators/clamps from DXE to hold the radiator
take a look to the KX4O vertical on the web and get more ideas
  good luck with the project

  Hi all,

I am building a homebrew 40M vertical with raised radials. (Yes, I have studied the N6LF and K3LC literature.)

It will be sitting on a 10 foot metal mast. I am looking for ideas for mounting the driven element. I want to be able to tilt the vertical over without effecting the radials. Obviously, the radials and driven element must not be electrically connected to the mast or each other. The mounting method should not effect the radiation pattern -- implying that it cannot be fabricated out of metal. I also want to be able to raise the vertical myself without my XYL needing to help me. I plan on fabricating this myself, only purchasing raw materials.

I am open to any weird ideas! Pictures are especially helpful.
