I do a very similar thing but use thinner Al and place SS washers under the
boxes feet to allow drainage from the drain holes you drill.

Mounting Nema box baluns to a boom can be easily and securely done if you
make a mounting plate. I use 1/4 thick aluminum and mount the box to the
plate using four 10-32 screws though the box's feet. I notch the aluminum
plate so the drain holes are not obstructed. I use a single stainless steel
U-Bolt to attach the mounting plate to the boom.
