one of the descriptions I saw on line described it as a center fed 
grounded loop.  I think that blob in the middle of the U is the 
feedpoint, and there's coax fed up through one of the arms.


You could probably search for COllins 37B and find a cutaway drawing of 
the three arm flavor.
