One thing I have not seen in the posts is using ScotchKote over a couple 
wraps of Scotch 33 tape. The Skotchkote will seal the connection 100% and is 
available at most electrical supply houses. If you need to undo the 
connection later all you need to do is use a razor knife to make a cut 
paralell to the connector then peel it apart.

A good wrap of electrical tape lasts pretty well and can be built up
pretty easy just in case you have tape  but not the right size of shrink.
