What ever happened to the old
method of standing it up vertical
with the reflector closest to the
ground ?

- Still works for me. I just leave the reflector over saw horses 3 ft over
the ground and first director aiming skywards over a wooden or non
conductive support. The change in swr is minimal then at 50-70 ft.
I´ve done this with several monobands and an optibeam tri-band antennas. 73s
