Thanks for all the ideas.

Best i can say now, is that it looks like it will be a long, drawn out PITA.

W4TV:  Re the pre-selectors in the Flex.  They were 'engaged' (turned 
on; enabled...)

 From what I've been hearing from others, my bet is intermod <sigh>.
I guess I need to start by figuring out what I need to do to make the 
interference start, since it's not there all the time.
