[TowerTalk] turnbuckle safety wires

Yesterday, my good friend, N4TY, and I finished putting up my Rohn 55 rotating tower, 155 feet. Today(3 hours ago) I finished going around a checking all the turnbuckles. Every one had jam nuts on both ends. I bought all of these 29 years ago. They are all genuine Rohn. They held this same tower up in a 200 foot configuration for 28 years. Last year I had it taken down and reconfigured with the rotator at the 5 foot level and topped it off at 155 feet because I didn’t want to buy another guy ring and I don’t need to be climbing to 200 feet at age 76. I suspect volunteers to climb will be happier not having that extra 50 feet.

So — yes — the jam nuts are there and were standard Rohn parts 29 years ago.
