>Thanks for all the ideas.  It is hard to point the antenna straight up by myself.  I did make sure my new coax from HRO PL259 fits into the sO239 on the balun. I have a swing set with no metal around so I may fay the element on it and test it again.  You set the beam to the dimensions in the manual and it seems to work fine.  I had a crank up tower before so all I did was set the beam up to the manual  and it worked fine.tnx all  73 Dave K4JRB
