[TowerTalk] FW: Radials vs. cows

I had some significant damage to some of my antennas a few years ago resulting from cattle running into them. Even a robust vertical won't hold up to a 1200 lb steer. I did not suffer any radial damage from the cattle that I am aware of, but I have had hogs tear up radials before. Suggest to fence it off from the critters.

Subject: [TowerTalk] Radials vs. cows

I’m about to put in a radial field but the area is infested with Angus. Terrain is in its natural state, never graded, planted or anything, just coarse grass and weeds and pretty rocky and uneven. I was hoping to use lawn staples (lots of them) as they seem to have a very good grip in this soil.

My concern is that the cows will snag the wires or pull them up while grazing. Then I’m stuck trying to shallow-bury everything... ugh. Anyone have any experience or advice on cows vs. radials?
