In the past I've used a piece 20ft piece of 1.5 inch schedule 80
aluminum pipe (1.9 inch O.D. / 1.5 inch I.D.) with a 12ft piece of 1.5
inch O.D. aluminum tubing (I believe it was 0.25" wall) inserted into
the bottom 12 ft of the 20ft pipe to reinforce it. I used that pipe/tube
assembly with a WB0W gin pole pulley and clamp to install a 24 ft x
0.25in wall chrome-moly mast in a Rohn 25 tower. The extra length from
the 20ft long water pipe allows you to grab the mast above its center of
gravity and still clear the top of the tower.
