Soon after I was licensed, I became friends with W8NJL, who was chief at 
a 5kW ND AM station less than a mile from my home. This would have been 
'56-57. He complained that he'd just had to replace his ground system 
for the second time in less than a year. Found the copper for sale on a 
nearby street of second hand stores a month later.
