[TowerTalk] 18 GHz N-connector identification

I was wondering if there are "tells" regarding the identification of
N-connectors that are rated to 18 GHz.

The Radiall website mentions that male "N-18" connectors have (1) a
hexagonal coupling nut and (2) a slotless outer conductor.  But it's not
entirely clear if that's true just for Radiall connectors, or in general.

In particular, I've seen HP-manufactured semirigid lines that are used
with instruments rated to 18 GHz, and while they do have the slotless
outer conductor they do not have a hexagonal coupling nut.

(I realize that to an extent these are cosmetic differences that are
easily imitated; I limit my consideration here to 'reputable' name-brand
manufacturers.  Personally I don't trust the no-name imports even to 11
GHz).

And while we're at it...is there a way to identify an "N-18" female?
