For splicing two different size wires together, or multiple wires paralleled to a larger gauge wire, visit your local marine supplier and look for " step down butt splices ".They come in many sizes and configurations and are even available with heat shrink tubing and or adhesive. They are designed to be weatherproof and in a high vibration environment. Just be sure you properly crimp them.73,Gary K9GS

Runs to base of tower & then stranded 18 ga up the tower. Tower is aHDX-555, so need strand going up.73 HerschelWA9KIAOn Mon, Mar 24, 2025 at 7:41 AM Jorge Diez - CX6VM <cx6vm.jorge at gmail.com>wrote:> Hi Jim>> my cable runs are 650 fts the longest, 300 fts the other two runs>> I was using 2.00 mm2 and 1.5 mm2 with no problem>> 73,> Jorge>> El lun, 24 mar 2025 a las 2:21, Jim Brown (<jim at audiosystemsgroup.com>)> escribió:>> > On 3/23/2025 5:30 PM, Jorge Diez (CX6VM-CW5W) wrote:> > > Manual says to use no less than 0.75 mm2 wires.
