"Rescue" Key

Since everyone has different assumptions about "what is supposed to happen
next", maybe what we really need is a "Rescue" key. This would be like a
"Hyperspace" key, but in reverse. Instead of putting you in a random set
of mode states, the Rescue key would automatically halt all keying and
return the user to a predefined state.

For example, one person might set the Rescue key to "CQ" mode with the
call and exchange windows cleared, clear any pending call on the 2nd
radio, and clear the partial-check window.

So, instead of frantically smashing the ESC key several times, you could
hit, say, CTRL-ALT-F12, and immediately get back to your own, personal
Ground Zero.

The LOGCFG.DAT format might look like:

RESCUE = CQ/CLEAR CALL/CLEAR EXCHANGE/CLEAR PARTIAL
