For what it is worth, I have found that the utility pdftotext
distributed with the freely distributable program xpdf
<http://www.foolabs.com/xpdf/> does a reasonable job extracting text
from pdf files. I just tried it with the TR manual and it produced text
that looked more or less OK. I only looked at a few pages.

I am much happier with pdf than with the previous word for windows
documents that I could not easily read or print. If other formats are
contemplated please continue distributing the pdf ones too.
