[TRLog] 6.71b time

I see this time and time again on the CT and=0D
TR reflector. The Writelog reflector even has=0D
these discussions. =0D
=0D
IMHO, the only safe way to run TRLog and CT=0D
for Dos, are in Dos only machines, or Win 95=0D
or 98 where you can "reboot to Dos". =0D
=0D
NT, Win 2k and now XP were not made to run=0D
Dos programs. At least I have never seen them=0D
run well. =0D
=0D
I know some people are able to run CT or TR in=0D
Windows 95 or 98 and do fine. I have never seen=0D
that ever, as what I have noticed, is the clock in=0D
the program falls way behind the PC clock.=0D
=0D
Low end Pentiums (I have a P120 and P133) are=0D
extremely cheap now, and make great Dos machines.=0D
Then, I think your problems will be history. =0D
=0D
I have heard of some who use "Dos boot disk" and=0D
that works for them. YMMV, but I'll stick with my=0D
old clunkers for Dos programs.=0D
=0D
My only problem this weekend was the operator. But=0D
that's another story. The PC, radio, and antennas =0D
all worked fine.=0D

I used 6.71B ( I think that was the most recent release) in=0D
SSCW this weekend.=0D
=0D
I am using a Dell P3/966, 384Mb RAM, 40Gb. HDD, W2K Pro,=0D
with a Lava 4-port serial card. The TS2000 and CW interface=0D
are only active devices on the card during the contest.=0D
=0D
Specific suprises I found:=0D
=0D
1. If I tried to access any control functions, i.e. edit=0D
previous log entry, adjust time, etc. while TR is sending=0D
CW, the CW timing iand characters are clobbered. I think I=0D
recall being able to do this sometime in past versions.=0D
=0D
2. Sunday afternoon I realized that TR time was way behind=0D
real time. I use Diminsion 4 to keep the computer time=0D
accurate through a DSL connection. After resyncing TR with=0D
computer time I found I had to continually correct TR time. =0D
The TR time was as much as five minutes behind within twenty=0D
minutes. I had to reset TR time every 15 minutes or so to=0D
keep the log somewhere close. I was running most of that=0D
time, but did some S&P as well.=0D
=0D
Did anyone else see this or do I have a computer issue,=0D
maybe?=0D
