I have absolutely no trouble running TRLog in Win98 *booted to command
prompt*. (NOT a DOS shell from Windows)
The easy way to get there is to start tapping F8 when the computer starts to
boot, then when the startup menu comes up, select "command prompt only".
That can be a pain if you have to reboot though.
The right way: (I'm pretty sure this will work in Win95 too)
Boot Win98.
Open a MS-DOS Prompt.
Type "attrib -r -h -s c:\msdos.sys".
Type "edit c:\msdos.sys".
Find the line that says "BootGUI=1".
Change the 1 to a 0 (zero).
Save the file.
Type "attrib +r +h +s c:\msdos.sys".
Reboot the computer.
It should boot to a C:\> prompt, which is in essence DOS 7. TR will work
fine.
If you want to go back to Windows, just type "Win" at the C:\> prompt. If
you want to go back to *always* booting into Windows, repeating the above
routine but changing "BootGUI" back to 1 will do it.
