Hi
Slightly off topic, so please excuse the bandwidth. However I do
know from experience that this is the place to come for good
advice ( grovel, grovel).
In an attempt to uncripple my vertical array, I need to switch
both ends of five lengths of ( say) RG213 phasing line, for
80-10m, at both ends, so that unused sections are completely
isolated. To this end I have obtained 10 high quality relays
from the U.S. and these are rated to 1500 watts at SWR<1.5:1.
This is proven capability as I am already using a piece of
manufactured kit ( six way remote coax switch) that uses the
same devices.
The difficulty is that they are small "black boxes", and are
intended to be PCB mounted, indeed in the item mentioned above,
they are so mounted. Clearly I will not be able to do this as
such. I cannot see that mounting on Veroboard is viable since RF
current of perhaps 3 amps will be carried ( say 5 amps for
safety). Since they have no other method of mounting, I am
struggling for ideas, and my only other idea is to epoxy them to
a piece of paxolin or somesuch - upside down if you like-, and
solder directly to the pins.
I would guess that one of the gurus here has been down this
road, and if so I would really appreciate advice. Clearly email
response is indicated to avoid clogging up the reflector
further.
Thanks for your indulgence.
