Thanks, Jim - great site.
While we're on the subject, does anyone have the QSK timings for any of
the FT1000 range?
I'm trying to optimize the timings on a new PA control board that will
support full QSK. I don't believe it will be possible to find one set of
timings that will work with all transceivers, but the default settings
obviously to be compatible with the entire FT1000 range.
The data required are:
In full QSK mode, and then in semi-BK mode (because it may be
different):
1. Delay from first key-down to appearance of the fastest PTT output on
the rear panel.
2. Delay from first key-down to first appearance of RF output.
3. With key locked down, but also a DIN plug in the BAND DATA socket to
activate the TX ENABLE line... delay from grounding the TX ENABLE line
to first appearance of RF output.
4. Delay between key-up and end of RF output.
Sorry that's a bit of a tall order, but I don't have any of those rigs
here, and if you don't ask...
On the other hand, the whole lot takes less than a half-hour to measure
(don't even need to take the covers off the rig) so if anyone within
striking distance of Oxford cares to get in touch I'd be very grateful.
It would be interesting to develop a database of these timings for all
makes and models of transceivers, which I'd be very happy to publish and
share.
