Tim,
Like you I was keen to see a re-run of the Jubilee Contest, as it was a
great success by most measures. However one of the key things that
would be needed for future success is the support from the rest of the
Commonwealth, and that clearly wasn't there.
Also we had one of the best PR generating machines available to us
... Royalty ! Without it being a Jubilee year (and the GQ prefix to go
with it) I don't think we would have seen the same level of interest from
non-Commonwealth stations.
I suspect there would be an outcry if the BERU contest were to be
re-cast into the mold.
