Mike shows a touching naivety about how the world works, or is simply into
"knocking the RSGB" mode.

The fact, sadly, is that WAB is a shadow of its former self. I have been a
columnist for 20 years, first on Amateur Radio magazine, then Ham Radio
Today, and now RadCom. In that time, I have NEVER received anything from
WAB. So it's by no means just an RSGB thing. On a handful of occasions I
tried to chase them - as an early WAB enthusiast (check my book number!!),
when it first started, I wanted to give them a platform. But I got little or
nothing for my efforts. I'm delighted to see that they now have someone on
board who I suspect will be much more proactive.

But the fact is, the way the world works is that any organisation wanting
publicity needs to take care of that from its own end, not wait for others
to contact them. There are lots of clubs, expedition organisers, special
event station organisers, award sponsors, etc. etc. out there. As a
columnist, I know full well that if I tried to chase them all up on a
regular basis I'd never have a life.

Here's to a resurgence of WAB!
