To UK Contest Reflector de G3SXW,
Dave is right. We lag behind other countries in submitting entries.
Something in our culture STILL tells us not to bother unless we
made a full-time effort.
The big majority now log on computer and it is getting easier these
days to just hit a few buttons and send in a log. Clean-up and scoring
can be ignored if you enter as 'Check Log'.
For the CQ WW contests (and maybe others too) even a proper
entry need not be scored. Just a log with date, time, band, call-sign
is enough because the master data-base does the scoring, find mults,
eliminates dupes and so forth.
As UK representative for CQWW I am asked each year to chase up
large logs that have not been submitted. For the Phone contest last
October we have ten UK stations that were reported by other entrants
at least 500 times. This includes four one-by-one contest calls. Each
year the majority of stations that I approach are happy to send in a
log when asked to do so and often comment that "I didn't send in an
entry because I wasn't full-time".
Please, PLEASE send in an entry - to any contest in which you
participate, if only part-time. It helps adjudication accuracy and flies
the UK flag.
73 de Roger/G3SXW.
