David,
I recommend TurboLog. I've been using it since 1994. I have all my QSO's in
it from a number of operations since 1979.
a. If you can make the LogPlus file an ascii file, then Turbolog will import
it. CT and TR - yes. You're stuffed with any logging program if your source
data is in some binary format and you have lost the original software
though.
b. More than 1 log, yes.
c. Yes.
d. Yes, but I'm not sure exactly how you would track awards in any software
without a lot of intervention. There's a user definable Keyword field which
can track anything you want. It certainly does good DXCC tracking, even over
user-defined periods within a log, separate modes, etc.
e. Yes, but the user has to set up external databases.
f. DOS based and runs on just about anything. I use Win95.
g. Yes.
CW supported.
Packet supported.
Rig supported.
I thoroughly recommend TurboLog. It falls down a little in contest support,
but I wouldn't use it for real in a big time contest anyway.
I also have seen ShackLog and would avoid it.
These are my own views/opinions. Others - don't flame me if I've got
something wrong here. I just use the software - maybe wrongly!
Cheers,
Stewart

Subject: [UK-CONTEST] INFO on logging software needed
BlankSorry for something slightly off-topic, but I am asking for your help
in reccommending a new logging software package, having just suffered a
crash with my old program (LogPlus) which appears now to be unsupported. I
need to be sure of my log data integrity, especially since I am about to
take on Manager duties for MD4K HF efforts....... (Yes, I still have some
directs to respond to for IOTA !!)
My criteria is:
a.. Will support log imports from LogPlus files, and Contest programs
(at least CT and TR)
b.. Capable of supporting more than 1 log (I need at least 3 to date)
c.. Capable of printing QSL labels / QSL management
d.. Capable of tracking DXCC (including individual bands), including
award management (ie approved)
e.. Also capable of supporting WAZ, WAS, IOTA
f.. Will operate on Windows 95 environment, and Windows XP environment.
Preferably not too demanding on system resources
g.. IS A CURRENTLY SUPPORTED PACKAGE
a.. CW support only a nice to have
b.. Packet support only a nice to have
c.. Rig support only a nice to have
If others are interested, I will make summaries available for all to see,
including vote numbers. I have some Demo software already, but I would
prefer to get some experienced comments from the DX community
