Radio: TS570
Antenna(s): HF6V + G5RV (sort-of)
Logging: Writelog (and very good it was too)
Hours worked: about 32/33 I think

Despite a try to get myself invited onto a multi-op team it was a show
from home this year...I think I did OK...looking at last years Radcom
its not a bad score...had to borrow a radio as my Omni V is a bit
ill...our local radio clubs TS570 ,as well as a HF6V (tnx G4JVG)...I had
had visions of putting up a G5RV so I could switch between Horizontal &
Vertical...however an error in where I could put the thing up meant that
it was only about 15ft at max and bent around the garden to
boot!...consequently the HF6 outperformed it in all cases so ended up
using that for the whole show...with the exception of 160 which I
somehow managed to load the G5RV up on (although suspect most of the 5w
was serving as central heating for the ATU), very pleased to work GU4YOX
on 160, Bob you were using ESP I think!...I thought Condx where a bit
odd?...I was very surprised to go to 20 after consistently mining 15/10
for most of Saturday daylight only to find it closed!...ended Saturday
with 1 Q on 20!...goes to show I should have checked earlier...nice to
work a smattering of DX...getting XT2DX was a good'un although only one
band..managed HC8N on 40 15 & 10 which was good...but no
Asia/Pacific/Oceania to be heard in Welwyn Garden City :(...I had
planned to go to sleep for a few hour on Saturday night and recommence
on Sunday morning about 2 to 3am...however either I didn't wake up or
the alarm is on the blink because I didn't wake up nutil 7am on the
Sunday...9 hours out of the middle of the contest, what a pain!..still
great fun and it would be really great to do QRP from a big station one
day, beams and such like!...that would be significantly easier than 5w
and a back garden vertical...if I had a penny for every time I repeated
di-dah dah, di-dah, dah for WAT I would be about £6.01 the richer ;)
