Comments : Hasty rethink on Friday evening resulted in the crazy decision
to go SO/LP on 80m!! Vic G4BYG was guest op with M2D
SO HP 160m from my QTH. A good move we kept each other
motivated through the rough patches..except for 2.5hrs
watching
the Ashes Test Match!
Great fun but 99.9% S&P cracking the DX pile-ups.
Rx advantage of 4-sq improved the situation when condx got
really bad during Sat Nite. QRN and General Noise from dense
fog added to the overall drama..even the odd major static
crash...
Only 62 NA so Pts/QSO well down at 1.42 Lots worked not
audible on Dipole or at best ESP Mode.
Found most productive was to have Main VFO (Left Ear) and
Sub-VFO (Right Ear) then go HF>LF on Main VFO and LF>HF
on Sub VFO.
Add in a bit of Rt Hand Index Finger on "Split" and was like
having 2 Txvr's. Meant lots of concentration but things never
got too dramatic and more so as the contest progressed due to
lack of new stations. It also relieved the boredom factor..mine
is very low..
Hrd only 2-JA's and ZL6QH at 339 but my flea-power not enough.
Highlight probably HC8N (0154z) and XT2DX (0225z)given the
massive pileups from both EU and NA.
