[UK-CONTEST] Split Frequency in Contests?

I did give consideration to working split as the pileups were quite thick
(after being spotted especially) but felt it wasn't "really" fair
particularly on 40m where in contests the band is like a one lane motorway.
It wasn't helped by the fact that my antenna was not directional (next year
phased verticals, as I live about 250ft from the sea):-)
Surly working split is a little like driving a racing car which is 2 or 3
times wider than any other. (sri folks it's the only analogy I can think of
at this time of day!)
I would favour not permitting it - but how to legislate it? Maybe time a
survey on contesting.com
Having said all this is was enjoyable for the few hours (about 10 sleepy
hours)I got on
