Richard G3RWL wrote on the SD Reflector today Listening to CQWW I couldn't
help but notice a (to me) new culture in the
contest exchanges; slick operators in a "run" were only sending the suffix
of callsigns. e.g. not "G3RWL 5NN14" but "RWL 5NN14".

My reply is:-
I did the obvious and slowed it down by sending my FULL CALL + Exchange but
yes several so called slick op's doing it.

Richard further asked "would other operators also find it useful ?"

Sending the full call is quicker than having his call + exchange repeated
back as the other thinks you only got a partial in a pile up. Most callers
return only the exchange once anyway except under difficult LF conditions.

Carry on from the no-id syndrome THE SO CALLED DX STATION sending just the
suffix really would be confusing and after all it is about accurate
communication in the shortest possible time. Add to this a busted dx call
taken from the dx cluster who is not id'ing but sending just a suffix that
has to be the ultimate in stupidity. Not withstanding the nightmare created
for the adjudication department.

Perhaps it is time like the "Sprints" to have a defined exchange between
2-stations and snip it at your peril. If sufficient reports of non
compliance are received then either a severe penalty or other reprimand be
imposed. The offenders would soon get the message.

Final point gone unnoticed or at least not reported....

Congrats to Andy G3AB for what looks like a new 20m HP CW record..someone
has finally taken the late Al Slater's record set way back in 1988. I
think....

Also John G3WGV set both a new European and UK record in the 2002 80m LP
section which due to CQ administration went un-reported.

All CQ SSB/CW Records can be found at http://www.cqww.com
