[UK-CONTEST] UK log requirements question

Hi Andy,
An interesting point! Log-EQF (and Win-EQF) also logs start and finish
times. It can be a bit of a nuisance if you enter a call and then sit
waiting in a pile-up. The start time is when you entered the call, but the
finish time is when you made the qso. However, the DX logs you at the time
you made the qso. So now you print your QSL, with YOUR start time on it,
and it doesn't tally with HIS start time! It has never been a major problem
(yet!), and EQF does provide a keystroke to update the start time, which
I've become used to doing when I actually get through.
Contest loggers are obviously stripped down to the bare essentials - they
don't log Power either! Here, the start/end time shouldn't really come into
it, because if you're not making 'instantaneous' contest qso's, then you're
doing it wrong ;-)

Subject: [UK-CONTEST] UK log requirements question
| Hi,
|
| Does anyone on this reflector know whether it's a requirement under BR68
for
| UK Amateurs to record the start time AND end time of any QSO? Yes, I've
read
| BR68 and I find it ambiguous. I'm not certain, but I believe StarLog might
| do this and I know that Shacklog does this, so I was wondering why.
|
| If it is a requirement, where does that leave us with the majority of
| contest loggers? Should I be worried about this, or is it common knowledge
| that the RA casts a blind eye over this sort of thing?
|
| Not stirring, just interested as I amuse myself writing logging software.
|
| 73,
| Andy, G4KNO.
