Neil,
Many of the HFCC subscribe to this reflector even if we don't always
comment. You've already heard from Lee, G0MTN, and I've just been able to
catch up with the thread today. So here's a few more comments as a
relatively new member of t' committee...
There has been a lot of discussion in the HFCC about a follow-on to the
Jubilee contest and I think it is a case of finding a good formula to put
forward. There were a few special and unrepeatable circumstances that made
the Jubilee contest popular, not least of which was the fact it was the
Jubilee ! GQ calls were in operation and it was well publicised. The one
area it didn't get a lot of support from was the Commonwealth.
By the way, I see that SM3CER is going to hold the Jubilee contest again
this year, see http://www.sk3bg.se/contest/c2003jun.htm#JUN . :o)
Another idea that has been discussed and is well supported is that of
piggy-backing on the major 48 hour contests as Don, G3BJ, brought up. The
objective would be to increase UK activity by having some rules/goals and
awards specific to the UK. What might help is for someone to research the
idea and make one or more detailed proposals to the HFCC.
best 73s, Alan G3XSV
