I read with interest the comments on the new RadCom. My first
reactions were rather in the negative, but I accept that change is
welcome and may come to live with the new appearance over time.

I could tell something had changed before I even took it out of its
wrapper, and it was a negative first impression. I grant that there
may have been print quality issues with this first one with the new
printers, and hopefully they will improve. Certainly the photo
rendering is far too dark, and at least in my copy the general
quality varies between pages. The fonts on the EMC page are very
dark, on other pages they are too light.

In fact I found the new font to be very tiring on my eyes - and I
don't normally have problems. Perhaps it is a contrast between the
relatively small font used for the text, the bright coloured
enormous fonts used in the headings, and the bold fonts of
annotations. Whatever it was, I needed several sessions to digest the

whole mag. I don't call that progress.

I agree also that the amount of page taken up by the headings is
excessive. Also, in the case of the IOTA results, I failed to see the

opening text at the bottom of the title page, started reading staight

overleaf and wondered why it opened mid paragraph.

I expect there will be quite a mix of opinions on the new look. I
hope that Steve and the rest of the editorial team will accept all
comments and criticisms and make changes as appropriate to address
the issues.
