[UK-CONTEST] IOTA Logging Advice Please

Dave,

Interesting.

I have used NA for the last two IOTA contests. In 2002 (multi-op) it worked
fine, except there was a bug with F10 which cause a crash (since seems
cured). Other than that it worked flawlessly, and is much the best of the
"old" progs for IOTA, I think. But it MUST be run under true "DOS". I
bought an old DOS machine for £ 10 which is the second one here on the
network (the other is also true DOS - no Windows anywhere !).

I used it again last year (but was only single op, so that is probably not a
fair test). I will probably use it again next year. I don't recognise the
issues which G3TXZ reports. I have a feeling they had some RF in the works
somewhere - or were they using DOS emulation in a more modern machine ?

Members of the Cray Valley RS are planning to enter next year's IOTA
contest from the Isles of Scilly, EU-011. The callsign will be M8C/P.

We've booked the accommodation and ferry, organised a site,
and are now starting detailed planning. The major area of
uncertainty is what logging software to use. We plan to have two
stations, networked, so SD is not an option. Having read G3TXZ's
account in CDXC Digest, NA isn't high on the list, and Writelog is
looking like the front runner. It seems most if not all programs have
problems with serial numbers. I'd be grateful for advice on the pros
and cons of WL, TR, CT and any others.

Thanks, Dave G4BUO
