Had originally intended a 10m QRP operation from YL's House in Cardiff but
after hearing Solar Flares mentioned on the Local news & talk of Visible
aurora.. I decided this would be pointless.. The weekend became a mix of
Priorities between the Contest / Work & Antenna Repairs.
I quickly realised how a bottom valley QTH kills my zone totals in a DX
contest.. I heard nothing further in Asia than A61AJ , Heard No JAs nothing
from VK/ZL on SP.. Yet Signals to NA / SA were amazing & getting lots of
complements.. Had two lovely hours on 10/15 of 135/112 & a similar on 80
later Saturday..
Had a few problems with the antenna & RF feedback which turned out to be my
Goldline mic lead wrapped around the Feeder.. Moved it .. Solved .. The
antenna problem is a bit embarrassing but now fixed..
Some very good Signals from UK on 10/15/20.. These usually sound "Scattery"
but this year were pretty consistent throughout both days..
Thought it was quite Civilised on the air.. Only heard a couple of frequency
scraps..Heard some very funny things on air...The one that really got me was
K5ZD's ramblings on 40m very early Sunday morning.. Sort of revolved around
"now where's my log".. "what's my callsign".. had me in tears of laughter..
going to be 100% CW now until 2004 for a change.. ;-)
