I took the approach of buying 275V MOVs and fitting them into the
mains plugs of the equipment I care most about, domestic as well
as in the shack. If you've got a common mains switch for all shack
outlets - a good idea in itself - then you can add one at that point.
If you're really worried about lightning surges then you could consider
putting lower voltage MOVs on each conductor of your rotator cable,
ideally with a ground rod right at the point it enters the house. I fear I
might only get motivated to do task *after* a strike!
