[UK-CONTEST] CW Letters instead of Numbers

I suspect that in CQWW Contest the checking software doesnt even check the
number but only the callsign.

Most software packages automatically put the number in and some even have a
database of those americans who live in a different zone from their call
indicates e.g. K6IR who is actually portable 3.

So the RST - Zone Exchange is pretty meaningless and providing you can get
the call (S & P from the cluster - and take your chance) correct, you can
guess the rest.

And so in these contests you gat the big guns whizzing along. Their
computer will tell tham that GM is in zone 14 and BY4 is in Zone 24 as long
as you can string 5 or so numbers and letters together, you dont have to be
a CW - sorry Morse Code expert.....

If we leave out the 599 - what the heck are we going to send on a
DXpedition???? Its going to be awfully quiet...
