Hi all,

Not a particularly high-scoring night, but the band was in great shape! I
managed 38 contacts.

One point to remember when answering a CQ call in a contest is not to send
the other guy's call, but just send DE yourcall yourcall.
When I was CQ'ing, I had a lot of GU0SUP GU0SUP GU0SUP DE G3XXX G3XXX G3XXX
which is a complete waste of time.
Far better to just send DE G3XXX G3XXX if conditions are good (which they
were) or maybe send your call 3 times if conditions are not so good.

If someone asks you to repeat the serial number, it is not advisable to
simply send the same buffer twice!
Have a buffer set that is just the serial number once, and then hit that
F-key as many times as needed. This is far more effective.

I know many of you are new to RTTY, but it is fun, and is a very "friendly"
mode once you get going. For those of you who wish to have a bit more fun,
this weekend is the ANARTS RTTY contest.
You can find a link to the rules, plus more info at www.rttycontesting.com
You get points based on distance, so work all the DX you can! Single ops are
only allowed to operate 30 of the 48 hours.

See you there!
