An A number was issued to associates underthe age of 21 who did not hold
a Licence.
If you held a licence under 21 you had to be a corporate member

In my 3rd Edn 1963, handbook there is an appn at the back, which quotes
the sub as £1-15-0 pa
If you were not acquainted with 2 corporate members you could submit two
references in writing
