CQ 160-Meter Contest, SSB

Call: G3SVL

Operator(s): G3SVL

Class: Single Op HP

Operating Time (hrs): 16 (across 7 sessions - yes, this fitted around sleep

Total: QSOs = 248 State/Prov = 4 Countries = 46 Total Score = 62,250

Club: CDXC

Rig: FT1000 MkV Field + TL922
Ant: First 42 hours - 160ft Inverted L at 35 ft average height
Ant: Last 6 hours - Titanex V160HD (87ft vertical)

Yes, I know! Why didn't I have the Titanex up for the first 42 hours? Truth
was I wasn't ready for the start and when I went to erect it on Saturday I
found open ccts on the joints due to corrosion which I did not finish
repairing until daylight Sunday (anyone else seen this sort of problem with
Titanex? Should I be using a *grease* between the joints?)

Condx seemed good overall but I needed the Titanex and an rx antenna. I
also need better filters in the rig than the stock Yaesu's for this sort of
game (I've got the 400Hz INRADs for CW and they are great - time to raid
the piggy bank again!).

Pleased to bag P4 for a new one, but V47 got away - I just know that I
would have got him if I'd had the Titanex up for Sunday sunrise!

Decided not to use packet - which was a mistake for the S & P mode I was
forced to use with the inv L - but it's easy to find the dx - just find a
frequency with 50 stations all announcing their callsigns in some sort of
random antiphase manner - and the dx will be there underneath :~))

Thanks to everyone who gave me points.

de Chris G3SVL
