[UK-CONTEST] UK performance in CQ WW etc

From the message that Steve has just posted I suspect it was not
intended to go to the whole uk-contest list, but specifically on the
point of the extension to 40m, it wasn't very clear in the announcement
when we were supposed to get the band.

The announcement said 0100 31 October. Now, the change from BST to GMT
officially takes place in the early hours of the morning, 2 or 3am I
think. That means that at 1am local we're still on BST, so it's 0100BST
which is 0000GMT. So if Gs went onto the band at 0000GMT that was
probably ok, but if you wanted to be on the safe side you could wait
until 0100GMT. In fact at G1A we didn't start using the new bit of the
band until about 0200GMT.

Perhaps Ofcom will bear this in mind when they let us have 7200-7300 ;-)

I suppose I should have said UTC not GMT in the foregoing waffle, but
you know what I mean.
